StreamInsight on Azure

Have you heard about Project Austin?
If not, it's StreamInsight on Windows Azure .... you should reach out to the team and get on to the private CTP. This would be great running there!

We initially deployed the StreamInsight client to Azure (Project Austin) and it worked really well.  But when we added the functionality to push data to the real-time dashboard using websocket, we moved the StreamInsight client to on-premise.  The reason for this is because websocket only works on IIS8, which is only available on Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012.  I wasn't sure that we could guarantee that the StreamInsight client could run on a VM that is Windows Server 2012, so we decided to keep it on-premise for now.

I am curious why not use SignalR instead of web sockets? This would have allowed you to host in on Azure.
